A lifelong equestrian and horse farm owner who relocated from New York to western North Carolina in 2014, Carol Parker has a unique understanding of what it’s like to relocate to an unfamiliar area and have to establish not only a home but a functional facility for your animals.
Carol has deep roots in the equestrian community and she understands the needs of the competitor and professional, as well as the pleasure rider. She grew up riding and competing based out of her family’s horse farm in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, on the North Shore of Long Island. After college and several years of working in public relations for non-profit organizations and as a newspaper reporter, she returned to the horse world when her daughter fell in love with horses. She guided her daughter’s early riding years and during that time established her own career as a hunter-jumper trainer with students competing at horse shows from Vermont to Florida. While this experience and knowledge enables her to capably handle the sale of horse properties for her clients, she has also sold many lake properties at Lake Adger, as well as homes in the area’s development communities such as Brights Creek, Derbyshire, Prospect Point, and Green River Highlands.
Whether it is a luxury home, a first time buyer’s condo or a horse farm, Carol gives every client the same dedication, attention and expertise. She is a strong negotiator and always makes her clients’ best interests the priority. She provides guidance and assistance throughout the transaction process and beyond the closing. A frequent comment from her clients is “I’ve never had a realtor help me with that before!”
Carol has been involved in volunteer and civic activities throughout her life including working in animal rescue/adoption, as a parent leader in the United States Pony Club and serving on the board of a public library. She received the New York State Liberty Award for Selfless and Courageous Service for helping animals following the Hurricane Katrina disaster in Louisiana. For the past several years, she has served as President of the Board of the Foothills Humane Society which serves more than 1,000 animals every year. She finds giving to others and to her community to be extremely rewarding.
“I love and appreciate this wonderful community and feel so fortunate to live here. I love sharing it with others through real estate. It is so much more than selling someone a house. It is making sure that the home and the neighborhood is right for them. From showing them a wonderful farm store that is right near the house to connecting them with a farrier for their horses and veterinarian for their dogs, it is all part of the complete service that I provide to my clients. The relationship doesn’t end on closing day.”
